1. What's another way you can organize and store information on your computers?

Another way that I can organize and store information on my computer is with RSS feeds, or other online devices to keep me updated on daily news that is to remain on my computer on my blog or other social media. 

1. What have you learned from researching the above topics? What do you know now about those current events that you didn’t know before?

From researching the above topics I learned about current event occurring in each topics. I discovered other financial company home pages and about them, I discovered other high schools in New Jersey, I discovered current news about gun control laws (like New Jersey is graded an A- for gun control laws, for example), etc.

1. What are other social bookmarking apps/websites?

Other social bookmarking apps/websites are Pocket, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Instapaper, Gimme Bar, Hopper, etc. 

1. Will you continue to use social bookmarking?

I will continue to use social bookmarking to help maintain helpful research for possible upcoming school projects, and to save useful and interesting articles/news. 

Do Now 12/14

     If I were chosen to wear an invisible cloak for one day to perform a good deed I would save all of the abused puppies in Bergen County. I would spend the beginning of the day compiling a list of all the abused puppies in Bergen County. Next, I would go into all of the homes listed and remain super sneaky. I would have a master plan (obviously) and I would never, ever get caught because of my super sneaky and trusty invisible cloak. The essentials needed would be my invisible cloak, a super comfy puppy bag and toys to keep the puppies calm. Getting into the house with my super sneaky plan and essentials is step one. 

     The second step is extracting the puppies from the house. The hard part would be keeping the puppies super quiet and calm through the entire ordeal, but that is what the toys are for. After extracting the puppies from the house I would take them to a super secret location where they will be bathed, fed and where they will be found a super great new owner! Lastly, I would report the puppy abusers and transfer them to the Bergen County Puppy Abusers Jail. Even though I would not receive credit for my good deed, just knowing that the innocent puppies of Bergen County are safe will be reward enough.

Do Now 12/7

     A class that I would like to add to my school's curriculum is a Cosmetology class. A Cosmetology class would add spunk to our school and would make coming to school a bit more interesting and fun! The class would meet during the school day, as it would be its own class with its own room. In Cosmetology class the students would learn how to properly care for skin, how to do hair, how to properly apply make up. The students would also learn the science that comes along with Cosmetology. 

     The Cosmetology class would have the setup of a salon, there would be a section for hair, for makeup, and a laboratory section. The class would always be buzzing with excitement and fun! The students could listen to music as they learn and improve their education on Cosmetology. The students would be graded and assessed on how well they do hair and makeup. They will have to do each others make up and hair once a week, and the teacher would grade them on their technique and ability to complete the task. There will also be written tests. Cosmetology class would be an incredible addition to our school's curriculum.

1. Why did you select the sites you subscribed to?

I selected the sites I subscribed to because they provide interesting feeds about recent events, news, and important information concerning my state, county and interests. 

1. Was it easy to find feeds and to subscribe to them?

It was not easy to find feeds and to subscribe to them, but I had help from Mr. Porfido and friends and eventually I figured it out.

1. Which sites were your favorites?

My favorite sites were ABC News, Fox News and ScienceDaily.  

1. What else can you use RSS feeds for?

I can use RSS feeds to keep myself  updates on news, recent events, and my interests. 

1. How likely are you to continue to use RSS feeds in the future?

I am likely to continue to use RSS feeds in the future when I have projects to do that require being updated on news, recent events, etc. 

Do Now 11/30

     I am the most thankful for my mother. My mother is the kindest and most caring woman I know. She's always quick to help whoever is in need, and will never put herself before the needs of others. My mother has helped me throughout all the difficulties in my life. Not only has she been there for me, but she has provided strength for me when I couldn't. Even though my mother works two jobs and she comes home late, she always has time for her family and her friends. 

     Although my mother is a very strong woman, she could not do it alone. My father works tirelessly beside her to provide for the family. He cares for my siblings and I, and he provides support for us when we go through difficult times. He gives my brothers advice for issues in their lives, and he provides me a strong shoulder to lean on when I truly need it. My father works hard, provides emotional support, and is the kindest man I have ever known.

     

     Not only am I thankful for my parents, but also my cat Hercules. Hercules has given me emotional support when I need it. Ever since I got Hercules, seven months ago, I have never been happier. Whenever I get home from a restless day at school, I am grateful to be able to come home to my four legged friend. I am very grateful for the people (and animals) that I am lucky to have in my life.

The purpose of this Wiki is to show information and a discussion about disruptive innovations that occur in education and in the classroom.

The last post was October 31, 2006. 

     3. How was this Wiki created/designed?

This Wiki was created/designed by making an account, and posting a summary on the content. People can edit the Wiki page and add/remove information. 

     4. What would you add to this particular wiki?

I would add more pictures to the wiki to make it more appealing to young viewers. 

     5. What did you learn after reading this wiki?

I learned about disruptive innovations that occur in education and in the classroom. Specifically, technology/social media and how it distracts students. 

     6. If you had to create a Wiki with a team, what would be the specific topic (s)?

The specific topic would be about racism and how it effects society. 

     7. How can Wikis be used in the classroom or in education? 

Wikis can be used in classrooms by adding information to the wiki on the things that they are currently learning.

Do Now 11/9

     Over the short break I hung out with my friends, watched Netflix, and slept. I went to the movies with my sister, and we watched the sad movie Miss You Already. We were an emotional mess, we cried and grieved over fictional characters. It was great. Over the break, when I hung out with my friends we went to the park, drank a lot of coffee, and had a good time. I did my chores over the short break, sadly, and it was miserable. At least I got to sleep a lot.

     When I wasn't crying over fictional characters or doing miserable chores, I was watching Netflix and sleeping. Specifically, I was catching up on episodes of Grey's Anatomy, and Criminal Minds. Criminal Minds, if possible, got even more twisted. I watched thrilling episodes and cried when one of the main characters got kicked out of the show. It was terrible. Also, Grey's Anatomy broke my heart into pieces, like always. I was angry, happy, and sad, all at once. The short break was amazing!

You can use Google Forms in your life for upcoming apps, school surveys, school projects, etc. Companies that are making upcoming apps use Google Forms to make surveys to find out what app users would like to see in the app. School surveys use Google Forms for yearbook polls, etc. School projects that require opinions from other teachers, or students could use Google Forms.

New technology expands screens and horizons at the movies 

• Cinemas have long been building bigger screens (IMAX) and opening other dimensions (3D).

•  Companies have been banking on multiple, interconnected big-screens, creating an even more immersive experience to fill seats for exhibitors.

• The identically sized screens create a nearly panoramic view.

• A deal with Twentieth Century Fox has the 20 screens worldwide currently showing the recently released “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.”

• The immersive technology is also being geared for eSports audiences, special televised sports events, and other live theater performances.

Apple pulls infected Chinese apps from iTunes app store (article)

• Security researchers Palo Alto Networks discovered that 39 iPhones and iPads were infected with malware. 

• One of the infected apps was WeChat, the super-popular Chinese mobile messaging app used by 600 million people. 

• All of the affected apps were developed in China, and they all used a modified version of Apple's software development kit known as Xcode, which had been manipulated by hackers.

• Downloading items from Apple while in China can be painfully slow. People in China often try to download apps and tools from alternate websites and servers, it can cause bitter consequences; like hackers and malware.

• If you have WeChat you should update it to the latest version because the last version contained the malware.

Web 2.0: Multimedia Blog Pre-Posting

     I am taking Biology this year with Mr. Man. I expect to learn more about the anatomy of the human body, chemistry, and about living organisms. I've learned a lot about chemistry so far. I've learned about the Periodic Table, about protons, neutrons, electrons, and about how elements bond. Like most classes, Mr. Man counts tests and projects for the highest percentage of our overall grades.

     I am most excited to learn about the anatomy of the human body. I am excited to learn about the body, about how it works, and the different processes it goes through. The human anatomy is really interesting and I am very excited to learn about it! I know that Mr. Man is going to be a great and inspiring teacher. 

      So far, Mr. Man has been great. He makes sure that everybody understands what he's teaching before he continues. If they don't, he explains and then moves on. He provides many examples that'll help the class understand the topic. He's also hilarious, He makes class full of science and fun. He even has a website. On his website you can find helpful resources, grading policy, and homework (in case you missed it). I am most excited for Biology I can tell it's going to be great!
